In fifteen kilometers from Novokuznetsk is small village Ilyinka. Valery Gavrilov was born in it on September, 10th, 1948. Thus, it in the childhood has been removed from the mad, roaring city life involving in the circulation all live and natural. The father, very formed person was a unique conductor of culture for it. Feodor Vasilevich, not taken place artist-sotsrealist, seeing early Valery's shown bents to creativity (the child has started to write verses and to draw in three years), in every possible way encouraged them, hoping that the son will carry out that the father in art vainly tried to make.
Valery in the early childhood was trained in game on a piano, a bayan, a pipe, percussion instruments, worked at puppet theater, was engaged in an art photo, a molding, has learned German so that easily read "Faust" in the original. Then it has got inconceivable even for the adult person working capacity, subsequently so amazing people knowing it.
Without having reached majority, Valery has left to Sverdlovsk to receive art education. It has arrived in school with which connected many hopes. Any of them couldn't be carried out. It and hasn't found neither adherents, nor support. "Official" artists were limited to that "have observed", by their own recognition, behind creative development of Gavrilova. And it is more than anything.
The undertaken two trips to Leningrad for receipt in Academy of Arts weren't successful. Its works have caused a storm of delight from teachers who were besides limited to that have specified it the following: «in you already to study there is nothing. Already most it is time to you to learn». These pleasant words have completed a wall between Gavrilovym and so-called «officially recognized art» which to it and didn't manage to be punched. It all the same, remained in Leningrad and has arrived on courses of auditors at Academy upon termination of which has for ever returned to Sverdlovsk.
Гаврилов has left a huge heritage. Approximately for twenty years of its creative activity it is necessary: about 350 pictorial works, about 1000 photographic works, about 150 sculptures from a tree, plaster, the philosophical treatise, some hundreds poems and prosaic experiences, set of art photos and one film script.

In Ekaterinburg the welfare fund of a name of Valery and Zynaida Gavrilov now is created.
